The city lights are cool, but It might of been better if it was centered?

i would disagree BJB. If you have ever taken a photography class you want to go by the rule of thirds. AKA don't center things. I like it on the side.

Ok, I take that back. I have never been able to take a real photography class, but I still wonder what it would of looked like if centered.

i would follow the rule of the thirds, but i much prefer this one rather the other one!

Breaking the rule of thirds can sometimes produce a better photo. However I don't think it would work here. I follow the rule of thirds almost always because I am not experienced enough(or lucky enough) to break that rule yet. I have a few buddies that are very good at it.

Much much better than the first one, i like the fact that it is off centre, i do understand the comments about centering it though, different strokes I guess, well done.

Under penalty of law do not center the Space Needle. Oh how I love this photo. It's so real, it's so beautiful, and there is nothing artificial about it. You have captured your subject well and given a gift to the viewer.

This is an outstanding capture. I don't believe I've seen the Space Needle photographed from Capitol Hill. Alki Point and the Olympics make a great backdrop.

So, the firs was zoomed.... Great photo!

Joel: www.timecatcher.com needs to put their photos into wallpaper formats (where possible). Those are just unimaginably good. I want them on my desktop.

@trout, a few Timecatcher photos are available as wallpapers (http://www.jaypatelphotography.com/tcdownloads/) but as these guys make their living off their photos they don't give all of them away for free.

This makes me want to take a trip back to Seattle, very beautiful. How many megapixels is your camera? I noticed it was a Canon Rebel, which is a very nice camera -- especially to get a non-pixelated photo zoomed in that close in your original submission. I have a film Canon Rebel and I want to get a digital version.

I really like this shot. I'm just sorry to say that I'm a bit novice with all this "rule" stuff. Will somebody be so kind and give us a link where we can get some more insight. Thanks for sharing :D

@golf007sd Check out this link http://michaelthementor.com/ Just click on the beginner tab under photography lessons on the top right of the page. There are plenty of other places to go but this guy breaks it down real easy like in the videos and covers the basic rules of photography.

This is much better than the first version. I didn't download your other, but this went straight onto the desktop. Always nice to have a taste of home :).

I don't think it should be centred. Great the way it is. And so much better than the first one because it is in context now with its surroundings. I like the fact that the US flag in the foreground is blurred, because it's patriotic without being jingoistic. Lots of interesting things in this to look at.

Funny, I was searching around for a good picture of Seattle for some Photoshop experiments the day before this was posted. This one would have worked a lot better, I think.

Whoa. I had no idea that the "zoomed out" version, if you will, was so beautiful. I love it just the way it is. In fact, I like it so much that I added it to Wallpaper Master's rotation. But, I normally try to avoid adding pieces where the subject includes man-made objects. But, for me, this one is quite an obvious exception to my silly rule. hehe

great work. nice shot of the space needle. would like to see some street level shots or one of pikes place market or maybee down by the pier with a nice sunset.

Wow, can't imagine I'm agreeing with Bizkit. Nice to see you actually have something good to say. Yes, this is a far more interesting image than the previous sneedle shot, in fact as some others have said, I think this may be my favorite Seattle shot. I love the reflections off the EMP roof and the flag waving but not enough to become a total blur.

As for the rain, hey, it's not always raining here. I now live on the West side of the Sound in an area that around here we lovingly call "the hole" where it will be raining around much of the Sound but not here. Still, as much as we're known for rain it's mainly during winter months you get the constant rain.

@Cat Chick, I have an original Digital Rebel/300D which we bought new and is only 6 mp, low by todays standards but it takes beautiful, sharp images with the right lens. For a lot less than we paid for that you can buy a newer Rebel like the 12 mp XSi that is far improved and for less money. I've been extremely tempted to buy one myself but I'm waiting to go full sensor with a 5D MkII.
